The Anthony United Methodist Church celebrates Joash Sunday with a special offering designated for the upkeep of the church or parsonage.  Offerings are placed in a chest built to remember the request of King Joash. Joash Sunday was first observed in 1935.

The 2022 project was a complete remodel of the sanctuary and narthexes. It included painting, repairs, carpeting, and updates to the narthexes. New flooring was added to the Fellowship Hall. The 2023 offering was designated for replacing the doors and windows at the west entrance to the Fellowship Hall and replacing the glass protecting the stained glass windows in the patio area. The 2024 project is supplementing the insurance payment to repair the roofs and guttering.

During the rule of Joash (2 Kings 12), an ancient king of Israel, Joash, saw that the Temple had been neglected and had fallen into disrepair. Joash went to the priests to request their help, but they never helped him and the Temple remained in poor condition. Joash believed that if people were given the opportunity to help, they would respond gloriously. The priest placed a chest at the entrance to the Temple and the people were asked to give toward the renovation of the Temple. God moved among the people, and the people gave so generously that the chest had to be emptied several times. By the grace of God and the generosity of the people, the Temple was restored.
