The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP; aka Senior Commodities Program) works to improve the health of low-income persons at least 60 years of age by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA Foods. CSFP is offered in 57 Kansas counties. Each month we at United Methodist Open Door serve approximately 1200 clients in 11 counties (Sedgwick, Harper, Sumner, Cowley, Chautauqua, Pratt, Kingman, Butler, Stafford, Reno, Harvey).
Each monthly food box contains*:

8 cans of vegetables

2 boxes of cereal (or farina, oatmeal, or grits)

3 fruit with 1 juice

3 items of protein (e.g. beef stew pouch, canned chicken, canned tuna, canned salmon)

Pasta or rice
-
Approx. 3 lbs plant-based protein (e.g. canned beans, dry beans, dry lentils, peanut butter)
-
2 lb block of cheese
-
UHT fluid milk and/or instant nonfat dry milk

In Harper County, our distribution partner in Anthony is the United Methodist Church. Currently, we serve food boxes to about a dozen clients on the 2nd Friday of each month. Clients must apply and be approved in advance for a box to be available for them at the monthly distribution.

All sections must be completed and legible. (If they have no income, they need to write “no income” in the income section and not just leave it blank.)

Must have client signature on the back of the application.

Must provide proof of identity and age (state issued ID/DL or birth certificate)

Must provide proof of address that has name and full physical address (can be ID/DL or if the address on the ID/DL is not current the client can provide a lease, utility bill, tax/insurance statement, benefit letter, bank statement, etc.)
